Hollywood não seria Hollywood sem as suas pequenas e valiosas estatuetas que, ano após ano, enaltecem as estrelas do cinema americano. Num ano em que a cerimónia dos Globos de Ouro ficou marcada pela greve dos argumentistas e resumida a uma divulgação dos premiados em conferência de imprensa, os Óscares estão de volta e comemoram a sua 80ª edição.
No Country for Old Men e There Will Be Blood, com oito nomeações, e Expiação e Michael Clayton, com sete nomeações, são os filmes com maior destaque.
A cerimónia dos Academy Awards decorre no dia 24 de Fevereiro, no Teatro Kodak em Los Angeles, como habitualmente.
